第15回世界学生サミット

新世紀の食と農と環境を考える

開催趣旨

今日の世界は持続可能性の危機に直面しており、このような状況下で人類の将来を担う若者たちに対する期待は大きく、彼らの知恵と活力を結集することが極めて重要である。農学は食料の安定生産と安全性の確保、環境保全、健康増進、資源エネルギー確保と有効利用などを対象とした学問分野であり、農学を学ぶ学生には人類の繁栄と平和の実現に重大な責務が課せられている。いうまでもなく、食料の生産と消費は、自然環境、経済発展段階、食文化などと深く関連しており、そのパターンや問題は地域の特性を反映している。したがって、各地域の固有な条件を踏まえた農業・食料システムがどのように構築され維持されるべきかを理解することが重要である。

新世紀を迎えた2001年11月に、東京農業大学は創立110周年記念事業の一環として「新世紀の食と農と環境を考える世界学生サミット」(ISS)を開催し、留学生を含む本学学生と海外協定校学生など21世紀を担う若者を参集して、人類が直面する深刻な諸問題に関する意見・情報交換および彼ら自身の役割について議論する機会を提供した。2日間にわたる議論の結果は「東京宣言」に取りまとめられた。その後も学生サミットは毎年継続して開催され、2002年の「行動計画」の採択、2003年の世界学生フォーラム(ISF)の設立などの成果をあげてきた。また、2005年には食・農・環境に関する情報や知識を共有する場としてISS/ISFの参加経験者によって食・農・環境に関するグローバルネットワーク(Global NEFA)が設立された。第14回世界学生サミットは、本学とカセサート大学(タイ)の共催で、カセサート大学カンペンセンキャンパスで開催された。

世界学生サミットは今年で15回目を迎え、2015年10月1日~10月2日に東京農業大学世田谷キャンパスで開催される。今年のサブテーマは「地域社会の再建と、地球規模の課題に対する意識向上のために、革新的手法で取り組む学生」であり、第14回サミットで参加学生が自ら設定した課題である。これは前回のテーマと似ているが、本年はより視点を絞り、各大学の学生がそれぞれの地域社会で実際に行っている活動に関する発表と討論を行うことを希望する。実際の活動に視点を絞ることによって、学生たちが地球規模の問題に対して、地域での活動を通じて問題解決に貢献するために、活動の理論、方法、影響(経済、社会、文化)の枠組みを明確にすることを期待する。

各大学の代表は以下の食と農と環境にかかわる4つのセッションにおいて、一度のみ発表することができる。
