Tokyo NODAI x SUA x JKUAT Kick-off Symposium

On March 3, 2021, Tokyo University of Agriculture hosted the kick-off symposium for the project-based collaborative education program under the theme of “Tokyo NODAI x SUA x JKUAT for SDGs: Fostering Next Generation Leaders in Food and Agriculture.” The symposium was held online, connecting the three participating universities of the project: Tokyo NODAI, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Tanzania, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Kenya. The event was open for public, and approximately 180 people, including the students from the three universities, participated. The event started with an opening message from President Katsumi Takano from Tokyo NODAI and consisted of two sessions with a variety of contents such as project overview, introduction of participating universities, and presentations by professors from the three universities on their initiatives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The participants actively engaged in the event by asking questions throughout the event, and all the questions were answered promptly by designated speakers and project coordinators. By March, 2025, this project will involve over 300 students including the participants for both online and offline exchanges.
