Tokyo NODAI x SUA The First Online Exchange Program

On March 12, 2021, Tokyo University of Agriculture hosted the first online exchange program with Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Tanzania. Due to the unexpectedly large number of registrations received especially from SUA, the event was held in two groups: Online Exchange and Information Session.

Those who had learned about Tokyo NODAI and our collaborative program with African universities at the symposium held on March 3 participated in Online Exchange. In this group, the students from both universities actively interacted with each other, talking about various topics in breakout rooms. The participants spent time getting to know each other and their cultures through the casual conversations.

In the other group, Info Session, the introduction of Tokyo NODAI and the project overview were presented for the participants. In total, approximately 50 students of SUA joined this session, and they expressed their strong enthusiasms for the program through questions after the presentations.

This online exchange program aims to encourage the vigorous exchange between the students of Tokyo NODAI and its partner universities in Africa as part of the project-based collaborative education program supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Tokyo NODAI will have another session with the other participating university of the program, Jomokenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), on Friday, March 19. This event will be held monthly with each university.
