Comparative Food Production Technologies

It is important to extend arable land and improve crop productivity in order to attain high yield, coping with increase of world population. In this course, environmental conditons on crop planting, deeply concerning to crop cultivation like climate and soil, will be primarily described. Then, crop management including soil fertilization, water irrigation and drainage, pest and weed control, utilization of plant hormones,as well as breeding and biotechnology for improvement of yield and stress resistance, will be lectured. Finally, relationship between crop production and environmental problem like global warming, acid rain and desertification will be explained.
