Edo Aesthetics and Environmental Resiliency

This course aims to develop students' awareness of the way people get along with their environment. We take the Edo era as an example. We will examine Edo culture and literature with an eye to analyzing the attitudes toward Nature expressed there. We also discuss the conduct life in farming villages, as well as in daimy? lords' households. Students are expected to give a short presentation during the course. Lively duscussion is much expected.
